Message from the Hotspots Team

Dear Hotspots participants,

We would like to hear from you!

Hotspots is collaborating with a UNSW PhD Candidate, Mercedes Ondik, who is researching the impacts of the 2019-20 fire season in NSW.

We would like to offer you the opportunity to participate in her research by completing a 15 min survey, with the chance to win a prize by completing an additional interview.

We are aware that many people across the state were severely impacted by the Black Summer Bushfires, the ongoing effects of Covid-19 and are currently dealing with the extreme flood weather. Participation in this survey is optional. You also do not need to have attended a Hotspots event, or have been directly impacted by the 2019/20 fires to participate.

The outcomes of this research may contribute to a better understanding of effective fire management actions for risk management and ecological recovery. The knowledge gained from the research could help Hotspots improve training styles and content for future workshops.

Complete the survey here

If you are interested in getting involved, please see a letter from Mercedes with more detail about participating in her study, and see Hotspots’ letter of support here.

Kind regards,
The Hotspots Fire Project Team

Mercedes Ondik, University of New South Wales PhD Candidate
