Bushfire Program Update - June 2026

A Planning for Fire and Biodiversity Community Workshop was held at Norah Head on the Central Coast on the 19th of June. Residents heard from representatives of the Rural Fire Service, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council, and Central Coast Council.
Participants gained insight into how agencies coordinate bushfire management and how they can best prepare their community for bushfire season. The group also enjoyed a field walk, during which bushfire risks were identified and asset protection zones examined.
Surrounded by bushland, participants discussed the various fire adaptations of native vegetation and the important environmental considerations associated with burning, including appropriate fire intervals and the distribution of threatened species.
