Staff Update - December 2025

As the year draws to a close, we mark the end of Phil Paterson’s time as a Hotspots RFS Facilitator. Phil participated in some of the earliest Hotspots Fire Project workshops since its inception in 2005. Since 2011, Phil has held the position of Southern Facilitator delivering Hotspots community engagement training workshops for the south of the state, and has been instrumental in the development and success of the project, delivering more than 20 workshop series. The team extends our sincere thanks and appreciation for his hard work and longstanding commitment.
Over the past six months, Jason McWhirter and Luc Roberts have stepped into the Southern Facilitator and Central Facilitator roles respectively. As these were temporary appointments, both have now returned to their other duties within the RFS, but we would like to again express our gratitude for their excellent workshop delivery and the support they provided throughout their time with Hotspots.
Recruitment is now underway for the two permanent facilitator positions, with appointments expected to be finalised in January next year. We look forward to sharing updates in the next newsletter and reporting back from our next round of workshops in the new year.
