NCC Bushfire Conference 2025

The Nature Conservation Council of NSW is hosting their 14th Biennial Bushfire Conference “Can we burn to learn? Sustaining people, nature and Country” in Sydney on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd of May, with a Field Day to the Royal National Park on Friday the 23rd of May.
With over 300 delegates from a wide array of backgrounds, the NCC Bushfire Conference is a great opportunity to discuss the latest ideas, experiences and opportunities in bush fire management.
This year, the Hotspots Fire Project will also be celebrating their 20th anniversary, so come along to say hi to the team.
This in-person conference includes a poster session with drinks and nibbles, and enjoyable conference dinner, along with virtual attendance options.
The theme, “Can we burn to learn? Sustaining people, nature and Country” will explore why, when and how can we best use fire across landscapes to protect what we most care about. By posing the question ‘Can we burn to learn?’ they hope to combine new investigations and learnings in managing fire into the right recipe to sustain people, nature and Country.

The Nature Conservation Council’s Bushfire Program has been running a biennial bushfire conference since 1994, bringing together a unique blend of agencies, academics, Traditional Owners and on-ground practitioners to discuss the latest research, practices and ideas in ecologically sound bush fire management.
