Upcoming workshops June 2021

Following the 2019-20 fire season and the release of the NSW Independent Bushfire Inquiry Final Report, July 2020, ( https://www.dpc.nsw.gov.au/publications/categories/nsw-bushfire-inquiry/) interest in the Hotspots program has increased.

With limited capacity, Hotspots has been supporting other bushfire preparedness programs across the state, including providing materials and training for the Mid-Coast 2 Tops Landcare Connection who will be completing a series of 15 local workshops over the next two years.

There are also plans for Hotspots workshops in the Kangaroo Valley and Berry areas in August 2021. These Hotspots workshops will support the Illawarra-to-Shoalhaven Bush Connect Project and will be complemented by an NCC Bushfire Program workshop focusing on post-fire recovery in the same area.

There are plans for a workshop series in Bombay, near Canberra, and potentially a one-day event with previous participants from the 2009 Moruya (Cobowra) workshop series.

In the Lower Hunter region, Upper Yango Landholders Association have requested a workshops series in the Laguna area after the area was impacted by both the Little L Complex Fire and Gospers Mountain Fire in the 2019-20 fire season.

In the Mid-Coast region, scoping has begun for a second workshop series with the Local Land Service and Mid-Coast Tops Landcare Connection in Elands following the Bungwahl and Topi Topi workshops series in 2020.

If you are interested in any of these workshops, contact the Hotspots team at info@hotspotsfireproject.org.au.
