Community engagement for resilient landscapes & resilient communities DVD

The Hotspots team is pleased to advise that a new DVD about the “Hotspots Café” events, which were developed as follow-up to the Burra workshop series held in April and May 2014 is now available for viewing. The township of Burra is on the Southern Tablelands, 30 km south of Queanbeyan.

Hotspots facilitator Phil Paterson and Hotspots ecologist Kevin Taylor tell the inspiring story of the Burra landholders and the local RFS brigade who attended the Hotspots workshops. RFS volunteer brigade Captain Sharon Field set up the café on the last Sunday of each month to enable local landholders to work on their Bush Fire Survival Plans and discuss burns on their properties and monitoring of species being regenerated as a result of the burns.

Phil and Kevin talk about the community ownership of the café meetings and the social benefits that have resulted. The DVD highlights the ongoing relationships between participants and the RFS.
