Fire season update
Tuesday, 24th March 2015
With NSW already experiencing extreme heat in recent months, NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons is urging families to prepare their Bush Fire Survival Plan.
"People should be preparing their properties, which means clearing gutters, maintaining gardens and checking equipment such as hoses, pumps and generators," Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.
NSW RFS members have also travelled to South Australia and Victoria to assist with Bush Fire Impact Analysis to assess the homes and structures destroyed by the recent fires. The data collected then feeds into research helping to shape future building in bush fire prone area policy. For more information on how to prepare, please go to https://www.nsw.gov.au/getready
